The State Museum of History of St.Petersburg, the Fund of the negatives presents the period of the siege of Leningrad during the great Patriotic war (1941-1945). The images were made in Leningrad by military photographers D. M. Trachtenberg, V. I. Kapustin, B. V. Utkin, G. I. Chertov, B. S. Losin, V. G. Fedoseyev, N. P.Janov.
The presented negatives reflect the life of the besieged city: shielded Smolny, tanks in the Stachek street, balloons on St. Isaac's square, sales of books at the Nevsky Prospekt during the siege, the dragon's teeth in the Moskovsky Prospect, scenes of providing assistance to the victims of the shelling, the Bolsheokhtinsky cemetery, the diary of Tanya Savicheva, the withdrawal of troops to the front, the guard's parade on Palace square in 1945, and others.
Most of these images were included in the Golden Fund of Soviet journalism and photography.
